ok so where on earth do i start!!!!!!! Im on airport standby at Emirates HQ.. For those of us (for me untill tonight) who has no idea what im talking about I will give you a quick guide to Airport Standby.. Im group 5 and july is my stanby month, i got rostered today for airport standby. there is also home standby which is 8 hours, but lucky for me i am only here untill 4am 
So you come to the standby lounge tell the person behind the desk u have arrived and you sign your name.. so whats next you ask??? you wait, and you wait …..aaaaaaaaand you wait! Wait untill they call your staff number for a flight! (fingers crossed i will be going home at 4am)
Last month I did a repeat of the previous months Bangkok / Sydney trip… However this time the crew was not as pleasant as the previous months.. There was one girl who I got along with really well! She was a real gem to work with! The rest were just lazy…
Today I went with Gilbert to look for studio apartments in Festival City… He is looking to buy, and I was lending him a hand going along and keeping him company! It is a very interesting layout. There are different clusters named after countries.. And each cluster is designed according to the country it is called… France and Spain being one of the nicest.. Morocco and Persia look well crap!! Dubai is such a interesting place.. You can find almost anything here (except for porn) hehe… The malls cater for about every design label under the sun, and food from all over the world.. too bad they have not yet managed to make cheap thai food anywhere 
oh well…
Below is a image displaying all of the different clusters in International City.. Forgot to mention this one of not many places in Dubai where foreigners can have free hold on property. Other places in Dubai you are only allowed to have it for 99years..
Ohh before i forget i finally got my dubai drivers license! It
Clauderic and I went for a visit down memory lane yesterday and ventured back to the EK training college. He had to get his tailor made service jackets as the standard issued ones are too small! SUCH A DIVA!!! love it though…

ok…………..
where to begin I have no idea….
So we had first aid this last week. So i thought, yeah ok ive done first aid in australia piece of cake… BUT NO!!
not only did we have to identify different types of medication, what their for and where to find them from we had to watch some horrendous video on childbirth.. I SWEAR……..ive never seen anything as shocking and horrible in my entire life
our reactions were quite different, my body went into anaphylactic shock due to the visual disturbances in front of me! lol
however passed at the end with a 99% score and 100% for practical. So by the end of the day i was pretty happy, apart from losing my bloody new ipod, atm card and misplacing my Emirates uniform which was meant to go to the dry cleaners at the training college. AND, yes there is an AND… I got two injections in my left arm as well!! Enough complaining for now thanks
The only good thing about thursday was that Clauderic bought me a bottle of Gin from London! It feel so good having alcohol in the house!

ok so what can i say??? Emirates does have the best training facilities than any other airline…
it has been 10 days since my arrival in dubai and already I know how to handle an emergency situation on an aircraft.. well we will see how good i know it on thursday when we have our first exam
my batch mates are GREAT!!!! we all get along really well and we learn allot from each other during our training…
My favourite part so far you ask???
The aircraft simulator.. This thang is one huge expensive toy!!! It can simulate almost any aircraft emergency and it makes it seem very very real.. Its almost therapeutic and recommend it for people who are scared of flying! might knock that fear right out of you…
Least favorite part you ask???
Missing my friends family and home, and in particular someone special.. how could i forget, ditching and jumping into the 4degree water was not allot of fun…
anyways i have to get back to my studies…

so far I have been in dubai for 5 days and what 5 days it has been!
bit of a rollercoaster ride…
Emirates is a great Airline and their training center & HQ is AMAZING… Nothing like I have ever seen in my life. All other airlines dont even come close to how advanced and organized these people are…
OK enough about that, more bout me…
I have met some great people at the induction and really get along well with all of them…The first week of inductions are now finished. Today we had our grooming session and were taught how to shave, do our nails, what face products to wear, how to wear makeup (for the ladies only) Lucky for me the 2 girls doing the whole thing were both from South Africa and we spoke a bit of Afrikaans…
Even though there are other Aussies here, and you can buy both South African & Aussie products at Spinnies/Carre Four I cant help but still feel a bit homesick.. Once I finish training and start flying it should all get better I think…
Aparently the training simulator is out of this world!!! you can experience take off/ landing/ turbulence/ decompression/ smoke/ fire etc.. so all the other people keep telling me.. Im sure in the next 2 weeks I will be able to verify and experience all of this..
Internet is bit of an issue here.. Where i live in the temporary accomodation there is a computer downstairs but its horribly slow! Another other crew memeber told me about this internet cafe down the road (about 10min walk) and they only charge 5dhr an hour and its superfast wireless so i can use my laptop!! even better…. *updating all my software ….
So there will be more recent updates from my end peeps
We got our uniforms yesterday and we got to wear them starting today… Felt very glad about that one because we no longer look like all the noobs walking around the training center!

saying goodbye is never easy…..
with my last night here in sydney i can’t help but feel a little sad…
sydney has been my home and playground for the last 8 years, i have become accustomed to used by dates on packages, strict bar rules, 40km school zones and such…..
but on a serious note i have met some wonderfull (and some not so wonderfull) people here during my time in aus…
some people i will miss and others i have probably forgotten by now…
I will truly miss my mum allot… even though she drives me crazy at times i love her dearly
Alan, Aaron, Alex, Craig, Jess, Tracy, David (callmachine), Raz … i will miss you all very much and I will always have a spot in my heart…xxx

Saturday night was a good night.. we had some pizza at Beaches Pizza…
Of course the usual cool crew was there enjoying some nice garlic bread, beaches salad and our all time favorite….the prawn pizza… Was a good night!! I am definitely going to miss them all so much when I move… the best part is meeting new people and adding to your friendship circle….

after a night at beaches we somehow stuck to tradition and enjoyed some Cold Rock Pizza… It was so good yet so fattening, but who says you can’t enjoy life!

well as it goes i have finally done my first transition..
i have moved out of my inner city (well almost inner city) apartment here in sydney and moved back to my mums place in Bayview… And for those of you who would know, Bayview is in the middle of nowhere… however this is a very beautiful part of town and i do enjoy coming up here. its quiet and has allot of trees
i have decided to add a map for those to see where exactly bayview is! its quite boring up here.. (one horse town kinda thing)
please follow the indiana jones plane and red dots! hehe
ok back to business…. i have 2 nights left here in sydney untill i fly out to dubai and can’t wait!! it has been such a long process and the amount of paperwork is endless.. Word on the rumour mill has it there are even more paperwork in store once you arrive dubai!! noooooo…..
